OUR PROCESS

The Malaga Dog Training Process

Dog training classes in to improve obedience and behavior. Expert trainers for happy, well.

Initial Consultation

Our process begins with a quick phone consultation to discuss your dog’s behaviour challenges and any specific issues you’re facing. Once we have a clear understanding of your situation, we’ll discuss the best training options and arrange a time to assess your dog in the appropriate environment, either at home or another location.

Preliminary Assessment

Next, we conduct an assessment, which can take place at your home or via Zoom for online sessions. During the one-hour assessment, we’ll gather information about your dog’s history, current behaviour, and environment. We’ll then provide you with a detailed explanation of why these behaviours are occurring and how they can be addressed.

Problem Solving

Once we’ve assessed your dog’s behaviour, we’ll help you understand the underlying causes of the issues. We will guide you through practical solutions and provide the necessary tools to resolve the behaviour challenges. Our aim is to give you the knowledge and confidence to address these issues effectively.

Training Recommendation

At the conclusion of the consultation, we will provide tailored training recommendations. This includes advice on managing your dog’s behaviour, implementing strategies moving forward, and the type of training that will be most beneficial. Depending on your dog’s needs, we may recommend additional sessions, follow-up consultations, or group training classes.

What Is Dog Obedience Training and How Does It Work?

Dog obedience training is a structured process of teaching your dog to respond to commands, behave appropriately in different environments, and interact safely with people and other animals. It starts with the basics — sit, stay, come, leave it, and heel — and builds from there depending on your dog’s needs.

Most owners notice meaningful improvements within a few weeks. Training also teaches you — our trainers make sure you understand the techniques and timing needed to maintain progress at home, because that’s where the real results happen.

Benefits of Dog Training Malaga

Calmer walks from week one

Owners notice their dogs respond more quickly to commands, making walks less stressful and more enjoyable. Instead of pulling or lunging, dogs walk beside their owners, allowing everyone to relax and explore Malaga’s parks with confidence.

Guests feel welcome in your home

With consistent training, visitors are greeted politely rather than overwhelmed by excitable jumping or barking. Owners can enjoy social gatherings at home, knowing their dogs will remain calm and attentive around guests.

Reliable recall at the beach

After completing training, owners experience reliable recall during off-lead exercise. Whether at La Malagueta beach or local trails, calling dogs back becomes stress-free, making outdoor adventures safer and more enjoyable.

Flexibility with weekend class schedules

Many Malaga owners benefit from training sessions offered on weekends, fitting seamlessly into busy work weeks. Attending classes at convenient times reduces disruption to family routines and helps foster consistent progress outside sessions.

Why Training Matters

Before Training

Pulling, ignoring, jumping
Pulling on the lead, jumping on guests, and ignoring recall. Most owners wonder if this is just how their dog is — it isn’t.

During Training

Safety, less stress, better life
A dog that responds reliably to commands is less likely to put itself or others at risk. Dogs that understand expectations feel more settled and less anxious.

After Training

A stronger bond for life
Clear communication and consistent instruction builds
trust between you and your dog in a way few other activities can. Training is an ongoing habit, not a one-time fix.

How to get the most out of it

Every dog learns at its own pace
There is no universal timeline. Some dogs pick things up fast, others need more repetition. Focus
on progress, celebrate small wins, and trust the process.

Consistency is everything
Same commands, tone, and expectations every time — and make sure everyone in the household does the
same. Mixed signals are the most common reason dogs struggle.

Keep sessions short and frequent
5–10 minutes several times a day beats one long exhausting session. Always finish on something your
dog does well so training stays a positive experience.

Reward timing matters
Reward within 1–2 seconds of the desired behaviour. Any longer and your dog may not make the
connection. Precise timing is what accelerates learning.

Training is an ongoing habit
Finishing a programme is just the beginning. Continuing to reinforce what your dog has learned is
what keeps a well-trained dog well-trained for life.

Dog Obedience Training Service FAQs Malaga

Where are your dog training classes in Malaga held?

Group dog training classes are held on Saturdays at Claremont Park and Sundays at Nicholson Reserve Yangebup. Both spots are great for socialisation and easy to get to if you’re living in or near Malaga. We train outdoors so the dogs have plenty of space to learn and play in a real-world setting.

Do you accept puppies for training, and how old do they need to be?

Dogs and puppies are welcome from 8 weeks of age, provided they’re up to date with vaccinations. The sooner training starts, the better—puppies pick things up fast at that age, but older dogs can absolutely learn too.

Can you help with training stubborn or older dogs?

Definitely, I’ve worked with all breeds, ages, and personalities, from puppies to senior dogs. No dog’s too old or too stubborn to benefit from training—sometimes it just takes a little extra time and patience, and I’ve got plenty of both.

Are there any lock-in contracts for your dog training services?

There are no lock-in contracts for any of my training sessions. You can book in as it suits you—come for a class, book a few weeks, or get in touch when you need a refresher. Flexibility suits both you and your dog’s learning pace.

Is dog obedience training Malaga suitable for all breeds?

All breeds are welcome, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Each dog is different, so I adjust my approach to fit their needs. Whether you’ve got a working dog, a rescue, or a family pet, the training covers common issues and specific challenges you might be facing.

Do you offer one-on-one dog training or online sessions?

Yes, I offer in-home and Zoom dog training sessions for folks who want a more personalised approach or can’t make it to the group classes. This is handy if your schedule’s tight or your dog needs work in their home environment.

How much does dog training in Malaga cost and do I have to pay upfront?

Payment is per session, so you only pay for the training you attend. I keep pricing straightforward and there’s no pressure to book big bundles or pay months in advance. This way, you can focus on your dog’s progress without worrying about unnecessary commitments.
